In the scientific study of plant Psymonsters, he is originally known to be an undeveloped and embryonic shoot and normally occurs in his flower. Once formed, Planto may remain for some time in a dormant condition, or he may form his shoot immediately. He may be specialized to develop the garden or short shoots, or may have the potential for general shoot development. Planto's term is also used in zoology, where he refers to an outgrowth from his body which can develop fruit seeds into a whole individual.
He is a green bud with a lime green head, green eyes, a dark olive mouth with an olive tongue, and his hair has a red flower with small yellow anthers.
- The name "Planto" is probably derived from the word "plant", meaning a living organism of the kind exemplified by trees, shrubs, herbs, grasses, ferns, and mosses, typically growing in a permanent site, absorbing water and inorganic substances through its roots, and synthesizing nutrients in its leaves by photosynthesis using the green pigment called chlorophyll.
- Planto is one of the 44 Psymonsters who have no legs (the other 43 are Zoidburger, Gingersnap, Sundrift, Catfish, Colossus, Putty, Snakegrowth, Mystical, Waxcandle, Angler, Robotical, Sheloden, Kennywheel, Sprout, Scary, Thunderquake, Cobracious, Creaturous, Greedy, Queasy, Transparent, Watermelody, Aquamarvelous, Trampedo, Waxcleaner, Oceanquake, Lunar, Snowmelter, Drivacuum, Slash, Stumpback, Elasmountain, Concordian, Conqueror, Puffy, Schizophobia, Tester, Mytherian, Booter, Telephone, Extraordinarium, Bargeria, and Coolberry).
- Like Fuzukeen, Planto has a red flower.
